You already own the clinic. What you have been missing is the appointment book. The Dualsonic Optimum 12-Week Ritual turns at-home HIFU into a planned course of treatment: one session a week, three phases, and a record of what changed. Here is how the twelve weeks work, what to expect from each phase, and who the programme is for.
In short
- A guided 12-week programme for the Dualsonic Optimum, written the way a clinic plans a course of HIFU treatment.
- Twelve sessions in three phases: Calibration (weeks 1 to 4), Construction (weeks 5 to 8) and Definition (weeks 9 to 12).
- Six minutes a week to begin with, about fourteen at the peak. Seventy-two minutes of treatment across the whole course.
- Every session specified down to the shot count, with illustrated shot maps, a photograph method and a session log.
- A 46-page PDF, delivered instantly, in English, Spanish, French and Italian. €29 / $35 / £26.
Why at-home HIFU needs a plan
Most people who buy a serious home ultrasound device use it enthusiastically for three weeks and then irregularly for three years. The device is not the problem. What is missing is structure: which zones to treat this Sunday, at which depth and level, in which order, and what to expect by when.
Structure matters with HIFU more than with most skincare, for a simple reason. Focused ultrasound works through collagen remodelling, and collagen takes weeks to organise itself into something a photograph can show. Treat too often and you add heat, not results. Treat too rarely, or at random, and the response never builds. Twelve weekly sessions is roughly how clinics schedule a course, and roughly how long new collagen needs to become visible.
The strongest predictor of a visible result is not intensity. It is completing all twelve sessions.
The three phases at a glance
| Phase | Weeks | Modes | Level | Session |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calibration | 1 to 4 | Quick Mode only | 1, then 2 on the cheeks | About 6 min |
| Construction | 5 to 8 | Face-up and V-up, with eye and brow or neck on alternate weeks | 2 on face and jaw | 10 to 12 min |
| Definition | 9 to 12 | The full sequence, every week | 2, then 3 at jaw and cheeks where earned | About 14 min |
Phase one, weeks 1 to 4: Calibration
Four sessions of Quick Mode: 200 shots across the cheeks, eye area, forehead and brow in about six minutes. It is tempting to skip this phase because it looks unambitious. Please don’t. This is where you learn how much gel is enough, how the energy feels on your own face, and whether your skin is a level-one or a level-two skin. Everything after week four is built on that answer.
- Week 1, the first appointment. Level one. Week-zero photographs before you start. Change nothing else in your skincare, so that if your skin reacts you know why.
- Week 2, repetition on purpose. The same session again. This is the week most people want to step up, and the week it matters most that they don’t.
- Week 3, the first step up. If weeks one and two were comfortable, the cheeks move to level two while the eyes and forehead stay at level one.
- Week 4, the first review. The last Quick Mode session and your second set of photographs. The jaw is usually the first place anything shows.
What you’ll notice: warmth, some redness and slightly tighter skin the next morning. Visible change at this stage is a bonus.
Phase two, weeks 5 to 8: Construction
Quick Mode is retired. From here you drive the session yourself, built around the two modes that do the structural work: Face-up through the deep dermis at 2.5 and 3.0 mm, and V-up into the SMAS at 3.5 and 4.5 mm. The shallow modes join on alternate weeks, so no zone is treated more than once a fortnight.
- Always shallow to deep. Brow-up and Eye-up (or Neck-up) first, then Face-up, then V-up last, so the skin isn’t already warm when the deepest energy arrives.
- Alternate weeks. Weeks five and seven bring in the eye area and brow; weeks six and eight bring in the neck.
- Level two becomes the working level on cheeks and jaw. The eye area stays at level one, for many people for good.
- Week 8 is the second review, close to the peak of the remodelling curve, and usually where the programme starts to show in photographs rather than only in how the skin feels.
Phase three, weeks 9 to 12: Definition
The full sequence every week: Brow-up, Eye-up, Neck-up, Face-up and V-up, in about fourteen minutes. Level three becomes available at the jaw and cheeks, but only for skin that has taken level two comfortably for four weeks, and never at the eye.
These four weeks are about consolidation, not building to a crescendo. You return to the same published shot totals each week, with nothing added to a favourite side or zone, even when the photographs show one side lagging. Week twelve is a normal session, taken calmly, followed by the final photographs. Then you stop, which is as much a part of the ritual as anything before it.
What people tend to notice, week by week
| When | What you might notice |
|---|---|
| Session one | A warm, tight feeling for a few hours. Nothing visible yet. |
| Weeks 2 to 3 | Skin feels firmer before it looks different. Makeup sits better. |
| Weeks 4 to 5 | The first photograph that surprises you, usually at the jaw. |
| Weeks 6 to 12 | Peak remodelling. Contour changes start to show to other people. |
| Weeks 13 to 18 | Remodelling continues after the last session. A fifth set of photographs at week eighteen often shows the best result. |
An honest word: focused ultrasound tightens the tissue you already have. On mild to moderate laxity the difference is genuinely visible in photographs. It is not a facelift, and nothing in the programme asks you to use your device more often than the manual allows. Results vary with age, skin quality, lifestyle and, above all, consistency.
The progress journal: why photographs matter
Skin changes too slowly for the mirror to be a reliable witness. The ritual asks for four sets of three photographs, at weeks 0, 4, 8 and 12, taken the same way every time:
- Same time of day, and the same window light facing you. Never overhead bathroom light.
- Same distance: mark a spot on the floor and stand on it.
- Three angles, front, left profile and right profile, with your chin level.
- Clean skin, no makeup, hair tied back, and always before the session, never after.
Compare only ever against week zero, side by side, in this order: the line of the jaw in profile, the shadow under the cheekbone, and the distance between the outer corner of the eye and the brow.
Common worries, answered
“What if I miss a week?”
Take the session you missed, not the one on the calendar, and carry on. Twelve sessions in fourteen weeks is a completed course. The one thing the ritual asks you never to do is double up to catch up.
“It stings.”
Almost always too little gel. Stop, wipe, apply a much thicker layer and begin that zone again. If a truly generous layer still stings, drop a level for the week. Our guide How to use the Dualsonic Optimum covers gel and technique in detail.
“It’s week eight and I see nothing.”
Check the photographs, not the mirror. If they genuinely show nothing, review your gel quantity and whether every marked placement was completed. The book’s troubleshooting section covers the nine problems owners write to us about most.
“One side has changed more.”
Expected, usually because that side started further behind. Keep shot totals and intensity identical on both sides and let the photographs show whether the gap is closing.
After week twelve: keeping what you built
- The six weeks after: do nothing. Remodelling continues for six to eight weeks.
- Every three to four weeks: Face-up and V-up at your settled levels, alternating eye and brow or neck. About fifteen sessions a year rather than fifty-two.
- Twice a year: a four-week intensive using the phase-three sequence.
- Once a year: fresh week-zero photographs, so you are always measuring against something real.
What undoes the work: unprotected sun first, by a very wide margin, then smoking, then repeated sharp weight loss and regain. Daily SPF is part of the programme.
What’s inside the 46 pages
- Your six modes, each mapped to the zone it treats, with depth, shot count, timing and the light that runs alongside.
- Where the energy lands: a true millimetre depth chart from 1.5 mm at the eye to 4.5 mm at the jaw.
- Gel, safety and off-limits areas, including the zones that are never treated and why.
- Technique: five rules and illustrated shot maps for the jaw, cheeks, smile lines, eye area, brow and neck.
- Twelve weekly session plans, each with the sequence, the level, a session timeline, one clear instruction for the week and what to do between sessions.
- A progress journal: the photograph method, four photo-log pages and a twelve-line session log.
- After week twelve: the maintenance rhythm, plus troubleshooting.

Frequently asked questions
How many HIFU sessions do I need to see results?
With an at-home device such as the Dualsonic Optimum, plan for a course of twelve weekly sessions. Skin often feels firmer within two to three weeks, the first visible change usually appears around weeks four to five, and results build to week twelve and for six to eight weeks after. Results vary from person to person.
How long does each session take in the 12-Week Ritual?
About six minutes of treatment in phase one, ten to twelve in phase two and about fourteen in phase three, plus a few minutes to prepare and apply gel. The whole course adds up to roughly seventy-two minutes of treatment.
Can I use the Dualsonic Optimum more than once a week to get faster results?
No. Once a week is the recommended frequency. Collagen remodelling takes weeks, so extra sessions add heat, not results.
Is the 12-Week Ritual a physical book?
No. It is a 46-page PDF, delivered instantly by email once payment is confirmed. It reads well on a phone at the mirror and prints on A4. Nothing is shipped.
Which languages is the Ritual available in?
English, Spanish, French and Italian. You choose your language when you buy.
How much does the 12-Week Ritual cost?
€29, $35 or £26, depending on your store currency.
Do I need the Ritual if I already have the user manual?
The manual tells you what each mode does and how to use the device safely. The Ritual tells you what to do each week for twelve weeks: which modes, in which order, at which level, with shot maps, a photograph method and a maintenance plan. Every figure in it matches the manual.
What happens after week twelve?
Take six weeks off while remodelling continues, then maintain with one session every three to four weeks, a four-week intensive twice a year and fresh photographs once a year.
